SunTek films lower the temperature inside the car and reduce fading and cracking of seats and dashboards. Tint also improves the look of the car and adds privacy. SunTek states that its films block over 99% of UVA and UVB rays. Book car window tinting in Merritt Island on our contact page or call (321) 607-1606.

When the Florida sun is at its worst, SunTek Evolve ceramic window tint is our highest-performing film. SunTek rates it at up to 94% infrared heat rejection, with strong glare reduction and over 99% UV protection. Because it contains no metal, phone, GPS and radio signals stay clear.

Evolve comes in a wide range of shades and is backed by SunTek’s lifetime limited warranty against color change and more, under SunTek’s terms.

Dyed, carbon and ceramic window tint: what is the difference?

Dyed film uses dye to darken the glass. It cuts glare and adds privacy, but it absorbs heat rather than rejecting it, and the color can fade over time.

Carbon film uses carbon particles. It has a matte look, does not fade like dyed film, blocks more heat and does not interfere with phone or GPS signals.

Ceramic film uses ceramic particles to reject infrared heat while staying non-metallic, so phone, GPS and radio signals pass through clearly. It gives the most heat rejection, which matters under the Florida sun. Our top film, SunTek Evolve, is a ceramic tint that SunTek rates at up to 94% infrared heat rejection.

Florida window tint law: how dark can you go?

Florida Statutes 316.2952 to 316.2954 set the limits. VLT (visible light transmission) is the share of light a window lets through, so a lower number means a darker tint.

  • Front side windows: at least 28% VLT, and no more than 25% reflective.
  • Rear side and back windows on cars: at least 15% VLT, and no more than 35% reflective.
  • Rear side and back windows on SUVs, vans and trucks: at least 6% VLT, and no more than 35% reflective.
  • Windshield: only a transparent strip along the top, above the AS-1 line.

The limits apply to the film as measured on your vehicle’s own glass, and factory glass is often already slightly tinted, so the final darkness depends on your car. Florida also issues medical exemption certificates for drivers with conditions that need limited light exposure. Breaking the tint rules is a noncriminal traffic infraction for the driver, and installing film that breaks them is a misdemeanor for the installer.

Ceramic Tint

Ceramic tiles were powerful enough to protect the Space Shuttle on re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. Now, ceramic window tint technology can help deliver outstanding levels of heat and infrared rejection for your vehicle, along with glare reduction and 99% UV blocking1. Harness the next level in ceramic window tint design. Select your level of protection and charcoal shade to experience an upgrade in cooling and appearance.

For cars, 28% VLT on the front side windows and 15% on the rear side and back windows. SUVs, vans and trucks can go down to 6% behind the driver. The windshield may only have a transparent strip at the top, above the AS-1 line (Florida Statutes 316.2952 to 316.2954).

Both are non-metallic and neither fades like dyed film. Ceramic film rejects more infrared heat, so it keeps the cabin cooler in the Florida sun. Carbon film is usually the lower-cost option and still cuts heat and glare.

Tint film goes on the inside of the glass, where it is protected from weather and car washes. It is cut to the shape of each window before it is applied.

Ceramic technology improves solar performance and infrared rejection while staying fully non-metal, so phone and GPS signals stay clear.

SunTek ceramic tint comes in a broad range of shades. How dark a tint looks depends on its VLT (visible light transmission), not on whether it is ceramic.

Ceramic tint can reduce the glare from headlights and streetlights. Choose a legal shade for the front side windows so night visibility stays good.
